Registration to the “Passport Service” has begun to be verified via BankID

Since June 22, Passport Service centers have been testing a new identity verification system when registering for an electronic queue. The State Enterprise Document introduced verification via the National Bank of Ukraine’s BankID.

Verification takes place directly when booking a place in the queue. This means that it will be impossible to register anonymously or issue a coupon for another person, since the system identifies the applicant through his bank account.

The innovation should eliminate speculation with coupons to passport centers. Previously, intermediaries could massively book free slots and then resell them to those who wanted to get a convenient time for admission.

BankID NBU is an online identification system that allows you to confirm your identity through online banking of Ukrainian financial institutions. It is already used to access a number of state and administrative services.

Currently, verification is in test mode. The State Enterprise “Dokument” considers this step as part of the strategy to ensure transparent and comfortable access to passport center services. In case of successful testing, BankID may become a prerequisite for registration.
