Putin again announced the possibility of negotiations with Ukraine and recalled the goals of the war
During his speech at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, stated that the capture of Donbass remains the main goal of Russia in the war against Ukraine. In addition, Putin expressed the opinion that Ukraine is ruled by “aliens” or “foreigners”, and assured that the operation in the Kursk region did not affect the course of hostilities.
Commenting on the situation in the Kursk region, Putin noted that Kyiv tried to destabilize Russia, but did not succeed. He claimed that the Russian troops have accelerated their offensive in Donbas, and the situation in the border areas has already stabilized.
“The liberation of Donetsk region is Russia’s first priority”, Putin said, emphasizing the “rapid offensive” of Russian forces in this region.
Putin also emphasized that Russia allegedly “never refused negotiations” with Ukraine, but they are possible only on the basis of the parameters agreed upon during the talks in Istanbul. According to him, Ukraine abandoned these agreements under pressure from the West.
“We are ready for negotiations, but only on the basis of the Istanbul agreements, which Ukraine actually agreed to, but later refused due to the influence of the West.” Putin said.
He added that Russia intends to seek such forms of settlement with Kyiv and the West that will guarantee the interests of the Russian Federation in the long term.
