Rinat Akhmetov became the owner of a luxurious 21-room apartment for a record $550 in the center of Monaco
Ukraine’s richest businessman Rinat Akhmetov purchased a five-level apartment in Monaco for $554 million. The deal was one of the largest single-family home sales in the world. The property is located in the new prestigious Mareterra area, which was built on a reclaimed land and officially opened in 2024.
The residence is located in the flagship building of Le Renzo and covers an area of about 2,500 square meters. The 21-room apartments have private terraces overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, a private pool, a jacuzzi and eight parking spaces. According to Bloomberg, the details of the sale are recorded in the principality’s official real estate registers.
The businessman’s holding company System Capital Management confirmed the fact of investment in this project. The company noted that the property is part of their international investment portfolio, which has been formed for over a decade.
“SCM’s international investment portfolio has included a separate portfolio of premium real estate for over a decade, as has been publicly reported on many occasions. Among its assets is the Le Renzo project, in which we invested in the primary market in 2021,” SCM emphasized in an official statement.
The indicated value of the object exceeds previous world records, in particular the sale of a mansion in the Chelsea district of London for $ 350 million and the purchase of a penthouse in New York for $ 240 million. Monaco continues to maintain the status of the most expensive real estate market in the world due to its limited area and specific tax regime.
The Mareterra project has been developed for more than ten years and includes more than a hundred luxury properties, including villas and townhouses. The development of the infrastructure of the new quarter is aimed at attracting the most wealthy investors and strengthening the principality’s position as a center for elite housing construction.
