Russia attacks Odesa port: casualties and damaged ships

On Monday, 14 October, Russia shelled the port of Odesa. The attack killed one person and injured eight others. Two cargo ships were damaged, said Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba.
One of the damaged vessels is the Palau-flagged Optima. This is the second time it has been damaged, as a week ago the vessel was also hit by a missile attack. In that case, the victims of the attack were foreign crew members who were injured as a result of the strike.
Another vessel that was damaged in the attack is the NS Moon, which flies the Belizean flag.
The attack also damaged a grain warehouse, cargo cranes, warehouses, technical equipment, buildings of the Sea Ports Authority branch and vehicles.
“The targets are the same: civilian vessels, grain storage facilities, terminals. The infrastructure that helps us ensure the world’s food security, which Russia is once again putting at risk by levelling all the norms of international law,” Kuleba commented.
As for the condition of the victims, all were taken to hospital for medical care. Two of the wounded are in critical condition, and doctors are making every effort to save their lives.
