Zelenskyy proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to extend martial law until May 9, 2025

On January 14, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a proposal to extend martial law and general mobilization until May 9, 2025. The corresponding draft laws No. 12404 and No. 12405 were registered in the parliament. About this it is said on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The documents provide for the approval of Presidential Decrees No. 26 and No. 27 of January 14, which establish the extension of martial law and mobilization from February 8, 2025 for 90 days. This will be the 14th vote of the Verkhovna Rada on these issues. On October 29, the parliament already extended martial law and mobilization until February 7, 2025.
Earlier, People’s Deputy from “Holos” Yaroslav Yurchyshyn said that martial law may not be abolished in Ukraine immediately after the end of hostilities. This is due to the fact that our state will have to provide security guarantees.
We will remind that on February 24, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada for the first time supported the introduction of martial law and the announcement of general mobilization in connection with the full-scale aggression of Russia.
