SAP and NABU detained the deputy prosecutor of Zaporozhye while receiving a bribe of 40 thousand dollars

On September 23, 2024, in cooperation with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, the prosecutors of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) together with the detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) exposed the deputy prosecutor of the Zaporizhzhia region for receiving a bribe in the amount of 40 thousand US dollars.

During the pre-trial investigation it was established that the official demanded an unlawful benefit for assistance in solving several issues. In particular, it was about changing the jurisdiction in criminal proceedings, canceling the arrest of a person’s property and ensuring the avoidance of criminal liability based on the results of a pre-trial investigation. These actions were estimated by the deputy prosecutor at 40 thousand US dollars, which she actually received.

Currently, primary investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the case are ongoing. Preliminary qualification of the crime under Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides for responsibility for obtaining an illegal benefit in a large amount by a person in a responsible position.

Now the issue of declaring suspicion to the detainee and selecting a preventive measure for her is being decided.

It is worth noting that according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, any person is considered innocent until his guilt is proven in a court of law and established by a court verdict.
