SBU detained a Russian agent in the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine
The military counter-intelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine exposed another attempt by Russian military intelligence agents to infiltrate the ranks of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. In the course of preventive actions on the territory of the Dnipropetrovsk region, there was detained a soldier of the combat brigade of the State Special Transport Service of the Ministry of Defense, who cooperated with the enemy.
The investigation established that after mobilization, the man was recruited by representatives of the occupation special services. His interest was aroused by the pro-Russian statements he left on social networks.
The main task of the agent was to adjust the air strikes of the Russian Federation against the positions of the Defense Forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region. In particular, the fact of transferring the coordinates of the military unit where he himself underwent training is documented. Subsequently, he began to collect and transmit information about the location of other units of the Ukrainian forces, on which the occupiers planned to launch missile strikes. The agent sent the collected data to his curator via messenger in the form of labels on Google maps with detailed descriptions of potential “targets”.
Counter-intelligence of the SBU timely identified the “mole”, recorded his contacts with representatives of the game of the Russian Federation and detained him. During the special operation, measures were taken to protect the locations of the Ukrainian military in the zone of possible enemy activity. During the search, a mobile phone with evidence of cooperation with the enemy was seized from the detainee.
SBU investigators in the Dnipropetrovsk region informed him of the suspicion of h. 2 Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — treason committed under martial law. The suspect is currently in custody without bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The operation was conducted under the procedural guidance of the Dnipro specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense of the Eastern region.
