Scholz announced an increase in military aid to Ukraine from Germany to €7 billion
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated, that the country will increase the financing of military aid for Ukraine to 7 billion euros.
“This week, the German Bundestag passed a very comprehensive amendment to our constitution that will allow us to fund what is necessary for the defense of our country, for defense cooperation in Europe, and for the military aid that we need to mobilize for Ukraine.
And tomorrow the Federal Council in Germany will also take this decision, so we will now have the freedom to do whatever we need as a great power in the heart of Europe. This will also include, by the way, that after the decisions are made, we will initiate a further increase in our military aid to Ukraine.
Together, it will be 7 billion. Four are already planned, three more will be added. Therefore, this year, as well as last year, Germany is and will remain the biggest supporter of Ukraine in Europe“, the Chancellor of Germany emphasized.
According to Scholtz, it is extremely important for Ukraine to remain an independent, sovereign and democratic state, to be able to continue its path to membership in the European Union and to have a strong army even after the conclusion of the peace agreement.
“These are the things we are obliged to provide,” – he emphasized.
