Since the beginning of the Great War, 46 soldiers have remained abroad after being on leave: ‘Slidstvo.info’
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 46 Ukrainian servicemen have gone abroad on holiday and have not returned to Ukraine. This became known from the Ministry of Defence’s response to a request from Slidstvo.info journalists.
According to the Main Directorate of the Military Service, the military can cross the border on a general basis, and this process is ensured by authorised officials. At the same time, servicemen need to obtain permission from their military unit commander to travel outside Ukraine, and their time abroad is not limited.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that from 24 February 2022 to 30 September 2024, 46 cases were recorded when servicemen did not return from leave. Such servicemen are registered as persons who have left their military units without permission.
However, in response to a request, the Ministry of Defence did not report any cases of violations of the law when servicemen crossed the state border.
