Sumy residents blocked the road due to irregular power outages
In Sumy, for the second time in a month, residents protested against irregular power outages, blocking the road for several hours. Yesterday, at around 6 p.m., about three dozen people blocked traffic on Heroiv Krut Street, demanding a fair schedule of power outages.
Residents of residential areas complain that some houses remain without power for a day or more, while neighboring ones receive electricity. Residents say the irregular outages are creating additional problems for people with autonomous heating and small children.
Protesters temporarily blocked traffic on Mykhailo Lushpa Avenue, preventing all but emergency vehicles from passing through. Passengers were forced to continue walking.
Representatives of the city authorities came to the protesters.
“There are locations that can be switched, and there are those that technically cannot be switched. They are trying to make it fair for everyone,”, – explained the head of the MVA, Serhiy Kryvosheyenko.
“Special traffic police schedules have been introduced, and until they are turned off, there will be no electricity. There is a problem in Khimmistechko and Basy – 9.5 thousand people are without electricity. We cannot influence private companies, Sumioblenergo is a private structure,” added Acting Mayor Artem Kobzar.
Residents believe that the situation remains unequal.
