Switzerland will support the recovery of Ukraine with 5 billion Swiss francs (about 5.5 billion dollars) until 2036.

About this it is said in the message of the Federal Council of Switzerland.

First step:

  • By 2028, 1.5 billion Swiss francs will be allocated from the international cooperation budget.
  • This sum clearly testifies to Switzerland’s solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

General plan:

  • By 2036, Switzerland plans to allocate 5 billion Swiss francs to help Ukraine.
  • The funds will be used for humanitarian aid, economic development and long-term reconstruction.
  • Switzerland is already supporting projects to restore destroyed civilian infrastructure in energy, roads and health.

Principles of assistance:

  • Aid will be provided based on the Lugano Principles, which are based on partnership, reform, transparency, accountability, rule of law, democratic participation, gender equality and sustainability.

Control over the use of funds:

  • The Federal Council instructed FDFA and EAER to develop a joint country program for Ukraine, which will include appropriate control mechanisms.

Strategic management:

  • FDFA, in cooperation with EAER and with the participation of all interested agencies, will determine how the national program for Ukraine will be strategically managed.
  • A proposal for an interdepartmental steering group headed by a representative of the Federal Council from Ukraine will be developed and submitted for approval to the Federal Council.

This help:

  • It will contribute to stability in Europe.
