The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to advance in the Kursk region, while the activity of Russian troops near Kupiansk, Toretsk and Pokrovsk is recorded: ISW report

The armed forces of Ukraine continue to advance in the Kursk region, in particular in the area of the main “Ukrainian bridgehead”, and restore positions near Velika Novosilka, previously lost as a result of hostilities. At the same time, the activity of Russian troops near Kupyansk, Toretsk and Pokrovsk is recorded. About this goes in a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Geolocation materials indicate the advance of Ukrainian troops in the center of the village of Pogrebky, as well as probable control over such settlements as Orlovka, Maryivka, Mala Loknya, Stara Sorochyna, and Nova Sorochyna, located northwest of Suzhi.

At the same time, the Russian troops are not abandoning attempts at a counteroffensive. ISW reports that the Russian army has begun the second phase of the operation aimed at ousting the ZSU from the Kursk region. For this, the enemy uses mechanized convoys, but the Ukrainian military effectively neutralizes armored vehicles during such attacks.

Enemy activity is also recorded in the Kharkiv region. The Russian Federation continues ground attacks in the north of the region, but their attempts to advance remain unsuccessful. In particular, the enemy attacked in the directions of Kozachoa Lopan, Visoka Yaruga, Lyptsi, Vovchansk and Tyhohoya, as well as Kupyansk. Against the background of the aggravation of the situation in Kharkiv Oblast and Kursk Oblast, Russian troops are also trying to expand their presence in Donetsk Oblast.

In general, according to the information of the General Staff, 182 combat clashes took place in different directions of the front last day. The Ukrainian military continues to successfully repulse the enemy, inflicting significant losses on it.

During the day, the enemy carried out 24 airstrikes, used 40 guided air bombs (UABs), carried out 429 attacks with the help of kamikaze drones and almost 3,000 attacks on the positions of the Armed Forces.

It is the 1019th day since the start of a full-scale war. Despite constant attacks from the Russian Federation, Ukrainian defenders demonstrate resilience and continue to resolutely defend the territorial integrity of the country. The Armed Forces not only hold their positions, but also carry out effective counteroffensive operations, inflicting significant losses on the enemy in terms of manpower and equipment.
