Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the appointment of Yuriy Cherevashenko as commander of unmanned air defense systems
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has approved the appointment of Yuriy Cherevashenko as commander of unmanned air defense systems. The corresponding order has already been signed by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal, reports the website of the Office of the President.
“The new leader faces many tasks that we approved at the Headquarters. In particular, this is the active introduction of unmanned aerial vehicles, namely interceptor drones, strengthening our air defense system with the latest weapons”, the head of state noted.
Previously, Yuriy Cherevashenko participated in the creation of the first group of mobile rapid response air defense brigades and worked on interceptor drone projects. In his new role, he is tasked with developing and scaling the unmanned component in the Air Force.
Recently, the Defense Forces have been intensively expanding the direction of interceptor drones, which are used both on the front line and in the near and far rear. Volodymyr Zelensky noted that in November, Ukraine should reach production capacities within 500–800 interceptor drones per day.
“We need to train operators. Many mobile fire groups are stationed at various facilities, now we need many operators who will work with interceptors”, — the president added.
