The Cabinet of Ministers allowed state institutions to return to using air conditioning and outdoor lighting

Since September 30, the government of Ukraine has canceled restrictions on the use of air conditioners and outdoor lighting for state authorities and state enterprises. This is stated in resolution Cabinet of Ministers No. 910 of September 26, which amends the previous government decision of June 7, 2024.

According to the new document, the final date of validity of these recommendations has been moved from December 31 to September 30, 2024. In addition, the restrictions on outdoor lighting of streets and parks, which were recommended to local self-government bodies, have been lifted.

We will remind that on June 7, 2024, the government made a decision to reduce electricity consumption in all state institutions, which included the refusal to use air conditioners and outdoor lighting to save energy resources.

The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, previously noted that if there are no new massive attacks on energy facilities, Ukraine can go through the winter without power outages. However, according to intelligence, Russia is planning new attacks on the Ukrainian energy system, which may complicate the situation.

Shmyhal also stressed that this winter could become the most difficult for Ukraine. Power outages can last from 4 to 18 hours a day, and some regions may be left without heating, the UN warns.
