The Cabinet of Ministers allowed weapons manufacturers to use the technologies of the Ministry of Defense
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution on the launch of an experimental mechanism that will allow the transfer of technologies developed in the Ministry of Defense system to serial production. This decision opens the access of government developments to the market and creates conditions for effective public-private partnership in the defense industry.
“With this decision, we are introducing a new system of working with defense technologies — from now on, effective developments will immediately go into production and work to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. This will make it possible to increase production volumes, expand the range of weapons and attract the potential of our partners from the EU and NATO countries, – said the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
The resolution introduces a new legal model for managing defense technologies created in the system of the Ministry of Defense for their launch into serial production. Manufacturers get access and the right to manufacture weapons and military equipment based on these government developments, which have already proven their effectiveness in combat conditions.
Technologies remain the property of the state and are used in accordance with the defined procedures of the Ministry of Defense. The finished products will be supplied to the Armed Forces through the public procurement system, which guarantees the transparency of the process and the rational use of resources.
The Ministry of Defense also expects an increase in the range of weapons thanks to state developments and plans to attract the potential of NATO partners to improve these technologies through a new export mechanism.
