The Verkhovna Rada has registered a new bill No. 15294, which proposes to abolish criminal liability for the production and distribution of adult content with the consent of adults, as well as to increase penalties for crimes against children. This is the third attempt to resolve this issue at the legislative level after the previous initiative did not receive support. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
According to him, after the failure of the previous bill on the decriminalization of adult content, the authors of the document held consultations with representatives of various parliamentary factions and deputy groups. After that, they prepared a new version, which, according to Zheleznyak, has a higher chance of being adopted.
The draft law provides for a significant increase in liability for crimes against children, in particular for the creation and distribution of child pornography. At the same time, he proposes to remove the criminal penalty for the production and distribution of adult content between consenting adults.
As the MP noted, the bill was supported by the signatures of 45 MPs from almost all factions and groups of the Verkhovna Rada. Among them are representatives of the leadership of the parliament, committees and factions.
Previously, the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada registered the relevant bill for the second time. If adopted, it would have abolished criminal liability for adults who create and distribute intimate videos. The parliament also considered this as a way to replenish the budget. The previous law on the decriminalization of porn was not supported by the Verkhovna Rada on May 28.
