The Cabinet of Ministers approved Zelensky’s initiative on 1,000 hours of Ukrainian content

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a program to create 1,000 hours of Ukrainian content, which was initiated by Volodymyr Zelensky last year. Its launch is scheduled for April. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture.

The state program provides for financing Ukrainian cultural products through an open competition. The initiative covers the following areas:

  • feature films and TV series;
  • non-feature documentary films and TV series;
  • animated films and TV series;
  • films for children’s audiences;
  • contemporary music;
  • performing arts;
  • visual arts;
  • audiovisual shows;
  • videos for social networks.

The program will operate through open competitions and selection according to clearly defined rules, expert evaluation and public pitching. Applications will be available starting April 3, 2026, via the appropriate form. The acceptance will last until June.

The main goal of the program is called the creation of a competitive Ukrainian cultural product that will be interesting and in demand.

“This is not only about limiting hostile influence, but also about forming a strong Ukrainian cultural environment,” the Ministry of Culture emphasizes.

In addition, the program is expected to stimulate the development of cultural and creative industries through investments, job creation and market development.

This program was initiated in 2025 by Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who proposed to the government provide funding for it. The Ministry of Culture is implementing this initiative.
