The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to create the Energy Protection Coordination Headquarters – a management center that will unite the activities of all departments responsible for energy, transport, water supply, heat and communications. This was announced by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
“The government has created the Energy Protection Coordination Headquarters. This is a single management center that will unite the work of everyone responsible for energy, transport, water, heat and communications – from the Ministry of Energy, Ukrenergo, Naftogaz, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Emergency Service to regional military administrations, communities and infrastructure operators. The Recovery Agency will ensure its work. In fact, this headquarters is everything we do all the time and every day, ”, — the minister noted.
According to him, specific decisions have now been made that will allow us to accelerate the construction of engineering protection around energy facilities, transport and life support systems. Control over the quality and safety of work is maintained, but the procedural part — from approval to the conclusion of contracts — will be reduced by several months. This will make it possible to start construction and repair work faster, guarantee the uninterrupted operation of the energy infrastructure and restore damaged facilities more quickly.
“Ukraine is entering winter under enemy attacks. There are daily attacks on power plants, substations, gas and water facilities. Recently, there have been targeted strikes on transport infrastructure, in particular the railway. It is important to understand that over the past year, the State Agency for Infrastructure Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine has built more protection than in all previous years – at 22 facilities for which it was responsible. Despite limited budgets, time frames and constant attacks – the work has continued and continues continuously, ”,” added Oleksiy Kuleba.
