The Cabinet renamed the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Infrastructure: what will they be called now

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to rename two ministries: the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, as well as the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure. This is stated in resolution of the government No. 1028.

According to the document, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy received a new name — the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications. The Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure will now be called the Ministry of Development of Communities and Territories.

The government also obliged both ministries to prepare and submit proposals for making appropriate changes to the current legislation arising from the new decision within two weeks.
The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications will now focus not only on cultural development, but also on the formation of effective communication strategies, which are of particular importance in the context of Ukraine’s information security. This direction includes countering disinformation and promoting the development of national identity through strategic communications.

In turn, the new name of the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development emphasizes the focus on decentralization and development of local communities. The absence of an infrastructure component in the name reflects the priority on building strong local communities and territorial development.

We will remind that on September 5, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a number of personnel changes that updated the composition of the Cabinet. Oleksiy Kuleba, former deputy head of the President’s Office, became the new Minister of Community and Territorial Development. Mykola Tochytskyi, who previously held the positions of Deputy Head of the OP and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, was appointed Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications.
