Mobilized lawyer broke through the border in Transcarpathia and fled to Hungary (video)

In the Transcarpathian region, a mobilized lawyer drove through the barriers at the border and fled to Hungary. As reported by the spokeswoman for the Mukachevo border detachment, Lesya Fedorova, the incident occurred at the “Velyka Palad” checkpoint.

“At breakneck speed, the driver rammed both barriers at the checkpoint and ended up in the territory of Hungary. As a result of the driver’s actions, a serviceman serving in the border detachment was injured,” Lesya Fedorova noted.

According to Uzhgorod City Council deputy Vitaliy Glagola, the driver of the car was Eduard Pukanych, a 38-year-old native of the village of Velyka Bakta, Beregov district:

“Before mobilization, he was a lawyer, and on June 23, 2025, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is currently serving in military unit A-3211, 355th training mechanized regiment.”

The leadership of the 27th border detachment has ordered an internal investigation, and the Hungarian side has been notified of the incident. The ERDR has been entered with data on the signs of a crime stipulated by Article 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – encroachment on the life of a serviceman or employee of a law enforcement agency.

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Defense Sector of the Western Region confirmed that the border violator is a 38-year-old resident of Beregovshchyna, who deserted from a military unit.

“Two criminal proceedings have been opened based on the indicated facts: encroachment on the life of a serviceman and desertion (Part 1 of Article 348 and Part 4 of Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The pre-trial investigation is ongoing,” the law enforcement officers noted.

The sanctions under these articles provide for up to 12 years of imprisonment.
