The Chernihiv court ordered the pensioner to return 63,000 hryvnias of the excessively received pension to the state

The Chernihiv District Court made a decision, obliging a local pensioner to return to the Pension Fund of Ukraine 63 thousand hryvnias, which she received as a disability pension, without having the right to do so.

As it turned out, the woman continued to receive pension payments for almost three years after the medical and social expert commission did not confirm her disability. Despite the fact that the Pension Fund informed her about the need to submit an application for termination of payments, the woman did not do so.

The court decided to collect UAH 63,490 in favor of the Main Department of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region.

Pensioners are obliged to notify the Pension Fund of the following changes:

  • change of residence (if this affects the right to receive allowances);
  • change in recipient status (for example, termination of education for those receiving a survivor’s pension);
  • change of place of registration (for IDPs);
  • removal of disability;
  • departure for permanent residence abroad.

Consequences of not reporting

  • Failure to fulfill this obligation may result in the need to return excessively received funds, voluntarily or through the courts.
  • Amounts of the overpaid pension are collected from the pensioner.
