The competition committee has identified Oleksandr Tsyvinsky as a candidate for the position of director of BEB

The competitive commission has identified a candidate for the position of director of the Bureau of Economic Security. According to the results of the vote, the candidacy of Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, who currently heads the detective unit in the Second Main Department of NABU, will be submitted for consideration by the Cabinet of Ministers. About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

Voting ended with the same results for three candidates: Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi, Oleg Borysenko and Mykhailo Burtovoy – each received three votes. The international members of the competition commission unanimously supported Tsyvinsky, while the Ukrainian representatives divided their votes between Burtov and Borysenko.

During the first round on June 23, the commission supported the candidacies of Tsyvinskyi and Ruslan Damentsov, but the Ukrainian members did not vote, which blocked the election. According to the law on BEB, in a second vote, which takes place within 24 hours after the first, the decision is considered adopted if it is supported by at least three members of the commission, including at least two from the international community.

Thus, Tsyvinskyi was chosen for submission to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, since only he has the votes of “internationals”.

“As the author of the law under which the competition is held, I responsibly declare that the winner here is Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi. He was elected as the head of the BEB. A NABU detective, he is one of the leaders of the Clean City operation. That’s it. Excellent choice of the commission.” Zheleznyak noted.

The Cabinet of Ministers has 10 days to officially appoint Tsyvinskyi to the post.

Before the re-voting, on June 24, the commission received a letter from the SBU in which the special service recommended conducting a polygraph for candidates who have relatives with Russian passports, including Tsyvinskyi. However, Tsyvinskyi has repeatedly emphasized that he does not maintain ties with his father, who lives in Russia, and as a NABU detective has already passed checks to obtain access to state secrets.

We will remind you that on June 23, Martyna Bohuslavets, head of the “Mezh” Anti-Corruption Center, stated, that the Office of the President is allegedly obstructing the appointment of two NABU representatives — Ruslan Damentsov and Oleksandr Tsyvinskyi — who received the unanimous support of the international members of the competition commission. She emphasized that these candidates had the fewest questions about integrity. According to her, the Ukrainian members of the commission — Tetyana Matselyk, Oleg Gilyaka, and Yurii Ponomarenko, whom she associates with Bankova, actually blocked the election.
