The court chose a bail of 200 million hryvnias for the defendant in the case of a record-breaking bribe to the former head of the Federal Security Service

The higher anti-corruption court chose a precautionary measure in the form of bail in the amount of 200 million hryvnias for a person close to the former head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, who is suspected of legalizing part of a record bribe of more than 722 million hryvnias.

At the request of the NABU detectives, approved by the prosecutor of the SAP, the investigative judge of the National Security Service of Ukraine applied a preventive measure to a person close to the former Head of the Federal Tax Service, who is suspected of legalizing part of the illegal profit received by the Head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine for his own benefit and for the benefit of third parties during 2015-2016 years The court refused to grant the petition in terms of taking the specified suspect into custody and decided to impose a preventive measure on the person in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 200 million“, the message says.

According to the investigation, the suspect received more than 13 million euros in the accounts of an offshore company and used these funds to buy real estate in the center of Kyiv. Her actions are qualified according to the characteristics of crimes provided for in Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 4 of Art. 368, Part 3 of Art. 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

We will remind that the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) exposed a scheme of legalization of more than 21 million euros related to this bribe. The advisor of the ex-head of the Federal Security Service also appears in the case.

The investigation is ongoing, and the suspect faces criminal liability for the legalization of proceeds of crime.
