The court in Dnipro will consider the case of misappropriation of funds of fallen Ukrainian soldiers

In Dnipro, the organizer and four members of the group, who are accused of embezzling more than 1.5 million UAH from the accounts of dead Ukrainian soldiers, will appear before the court. About this reported regional prosecutor’s office.

According to the investigation, the suspects involved an employee of the forensic medical examination bureau, who stole SIM cards and mobile phones of the dead soldiers in the morgue. The group included an IT specialist who changed passwords and gained access to the victims’ online banking. Criminals withdrew cash, issued loans in the names of the victims and transferred money to their own accounts.

Denunciation measures were carried out by prosecutors together with investigators of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Dnipropetrovsk region and the Dnipro district police department No. 2 of the region. Operational support was carried out by employees of the Office for Countering Cybercrimes in the Dnipropetrovsk Region and the Department of Cyber ​​Security of the SBU.

A total of 20 victims were found, and the total amount of damages is more than 1.5 million hryvnias. Currently, all members of the group are in custody, and the indictment has been submitted to the court. If they are found guilty, according to Part 5 of Article 185, Part 5 of Article 190 and Part 5 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, they face up to 15 years in prison.
