The Estonian Ministry of Defense is simplifying the procedure for adopting UAVs
The Estonian Ministry of Defense has begun reviewing regulations designed to simplify the procedure for ordering and adopting new drones. This was reported by ERR.
Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur has submitted a draft amendment to the regulations governing aviation in the defense sector. The aim of these changes is to simplify the processes of ordering and accepting new drones into service.
“Unmanned technologies are developing very rapidly on the battlefield, and we must constantly update our rules to meet real needs,” Pevkur noted.
After the changes, devices of the same model will no longer have to undergo repeated individual inspections. In addition, for the first time, rules are being introduced for the safe use of drones that have been privately assembled or modified on ranges.
The Estonian rules also bring them even closer to European practices. This will allow, if necessary, to involve civilian organizations that have the appropriate certification in the maintenance of aircraft in the defense sector.
