The EU aims to sign security commitments to Ukraine by the end of June: what does this mean

The Council of the European Union announced its intention to sign security obligations with Ukraine by the end of June.
About this it is said in the conclusions of the meeting of the EU Security and Defense Council of the bloc.
“The Council of the EU aims to sign the EU’s security commitments to Ukraine by the end of June. Together with bilateral agreements, they will help Ukraine to defend itself, resist destabilization attempts, and deter acts of aggression in the future. The EU’s security commitments will create a basis for predictable, long-term and sustainable support for Ukraine’s security and defense and should be considered holistically“, the conclusions state.

The Council of the EU recognizes that since the beginning of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the EU’s role as a security and defense entity has significantly strengthened. In its conclusions, the Council established five key priorities for the future, including unwavering support for Ukraine, increasing defense spending and capabilities, strengthening resilience and developing partnerships.
