The exchange of bodies of the dead between Ukraine and the Russian Federation has been postponed to next week: Coordination Headquarters

The exchange of bodies of dead soldiers between Ukraine and Russia, which was agreed upon in Istanbul, should begin next week. Deputy head of the Coordination Staff for the Treatment of Prisoners of War Andrii Yusov reported this in a comment Ukrainian truth, as well as representatives of the Coordinating Staff on the Treatment of Prisoners of War in a comment for BBC. There are currently no other details.

The headquarters denied the information spread by Russian officials regarding the alleged start of the repatriation process after the agreements in Istanbul. According to the Ukrainian side, these statements do not correspond to reality and are an attempt to manipulate a topic that is extremely sensitive for society.

At the same time, preparations are underway for the return of the seriously wounded and seriously ill, as well as the bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers. The Coordinating Staff emphasizes that any unilateral actions or statements on the part of the Russian Federation are considered informational provocations.

On the same day, the representative of the Russian delegation at the negotiations in Istanbul, Volodymyr Medynskyi, said that Ukraine, as if unexpectedly, postponed “both the acceptance of bodies and the exchange of prisoners of war for an indefinite period.” Ukrainian officials considered this statement as another attempt to pressure and change the content of previous agreements. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine spoke harshly, calling such statements by Russia false and aimed at creating artificial obstacles in the negotiations.

We will remind you that earlier the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that on June 7 and 8 the next stage of the exchange of prisoners of war should take place.
