The first domestically developed industrial energy storage was launched in Ukraine

The Kness group of companies has completed the construction and commissioning of eight parks of energy storage facilities with a total capacity of more than 100 MWh in the south and center of Ukraine. One of these objects is a completely in-house development of Kness, notified on the company website.

All new facilities are connected to the electricity grid, have received certification from the transmission system operator and have acquired the status of participants in the electricity market. From October 1, they will comprehensively provide services from the frequency support reserve (RPCH) and the automatic frequency recovery reserve (АРВЧс).

The group invested about 40 million US dollars in the project, using its own funds, partner financing and bank resources. Most of the UZE parks are implemented on the basis of the technologies of the Chinese company HiTHIUM – a global manufacturer of energy storage equipment. At the same time, one project with a capacity of more than 10 MW is built on Kness’s own development.

“Four years ago, our RnD team started experimenting with various energy storage technologies, actively worked on the architecture and configuration of the UZE, and also modeled its operation modes in the market of auxiliary services. As a result, we designed, developed and manufactured our own technological solution for energy storage, said Yevhen Didichenko, director of business development at Kness.

In addition, the group created its own energy management system (EMS), which allows you to form trading operations for the USE facility from a single interface and automatically execute them according to the specified parameters.
