The first Japanese modular bridge in Ukraine was built in the Ternopil region

The first Japanese modular bridge in Ukraine was opened in Ternopil region. This was reported by the State Restoration Agency.

The new metal bridge over the Hnizna River was built in place of the old one, which was damaged in June as a result of an accident with a truck exceeding the permissible weight. After the completion of the work, the permissible load on the structure increased several times and now amounts to 100 tons. The bridge in the village of Chernykhivtsi is part of the R-43 highway (Ternopil – Zbarazh – Lanivtsi), which is used by about 10 thousand vehicles daily.

The repair work lasted three months. During this time, damaged elements were dismantled, new supports were erected, and the metal structure of the bridge was assembled and installed. The riverbed was also strengthened, gabions were installed on the slopes, the approaches to the bridge and their base were restored, and horizontal markings were applied to the roadway.

The day before, representatives of the State Enterprise “National Institute for Infrastructure Development” tested the bridge, checking it for strength, reliability, and compliance with state construction standards. The results confirmed that the technical condition of the structure meets the highest operational requirements.

According to data of the Ternopil OVA, the service life of the new bridge is 50 years. The metal modular structures were provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as part of its grant assistance to Ukraine, and the remaining renovation and restoration works and materials were financed from the state budget. The works were carried out by “TechnoBudCenter” LLC.
