The first restaurant with a menu of different types of bottled water has appeared in the UK

The French restaurant La Popote in the county of Cheshire, in the north of England, has become the first institution in Great Britain where visitors are offered a special menu of bottled water of different varieties. About this informs CNN.

The restaurant, which is known for its 140-item wine list, has decided to expand its offerings for guests who do not drink alcohol. Customers have access to three types of still and four types of carbonated water from different European countries — from Great Britain to Portugal.

Prices start at £5 (about US$6.8) for a large bottle and go up to £19 (US$26) for The Palace of Vidago’s premium Portuguese water. Free tap water also remains on the menu.

The famous British “water sommelier” Doren Binder, founder of the Crag Spring Water brand, suggested the idea to the restaurant’s owners, Joseph Rollins and his partner, Gael Radigon. At first, the entrepreneurs treated it with distrust, but after tasting it in Binder’s “water bar”, they changed their position.

“It was amazing. I realized that water is not just water”, — said Rollins.

According to him, as in the case of wine, the mineral composition of water affects its taste, and in combination with different dishes, shades are revealed in a new way. La Popote is convinced that such an innovation opens up “another dimension” for guests, especially against the background of the global trend to reduce alcohol consumption.
