The French General Staff confirmed cases of desertion from the Ukrainian brigade

The French General Staff confirmed cases of desertion among servicemen of the 155th mechanized brigade of the Anna Kyiv Armed Forces during their training in France. About this informs France24. According to available data, the number of deserters is several dozen.

“There were some desertions, but they remain very small, considering the number of people who were trained. They were in French barracks, they were allowed to leave,” – said the official representative of the French army.

This brigade, named in honor of Princess Anna of Kyiv, the wife of the French King Henry I, was created to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. France assumed responsibility for the training and provision of a large part of its personnel.

However, during the exercises, it became known about the voluntary abandonment of service by several military personnel. At the same time, French legislation does not provide for criminal liability for such actions, which limits the possibilities of local authorities in solving this situation. According to representatives of the French army, Ukrainian military personnel who were trained in France are subject to a disciplinary regime “imposed by the Ukrainian command”.
