The Government of Ukraine has expanded the grounds for payments to families of deceased military personnel

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has amended the resolution regulating the procedure for paying monetary compensation for unused vacation days in the event of the death of servicemen and police officers. This was reported by People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko.

Previously, the families of the deceased had the right to compensation for all unused days of annual and additional vacation, but the document did not cover all categories of servicemen and did not take into account the situation when a person is in captivity, interned or missing.

The updated resolution expands the circle of persons entitled to receive compensation – now this applies to all military formations created in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, as well as state special-purpose bodies with law enforcement functions. It was determined that the payment is made not only in the event of death, but also in the event of captivity, internment or disappearance.

It is also envisaged that a serviceman can determine in advance in his personal possession a person to whom compensation will be paid in the event of his death or disappearance. It was specified that the right to receive funds is given to parents, wife or husband, children and dependents. The procedure for submitting an application has become clearer: it must be submitted by a family member, and the decision on payment is made by the commander or head of the institution within 15 days after receiving all the necessary documents.
