The head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs decided to resign after a journalistic investigation
The head of the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Mykola Rudyk decided to resign and submitted declaration The official announced his decision to leave his post at the beginning of January.
Rudyk held the post of head of the GSC since 2022, but in December 2024 he became involved in a large-scale investigation by Bihus.Info regarding corruption and inefficiency of service centers. The investigation said that visitors to many centers complained of difficulties in obtaining vouchers for taking exams.
Under Rudyk’s leadership, the reform of theoretical and practical exams for obtaining driver’s licenses was initiated. He promised to ensure transparency and fairness in the process, including the introduction of video surveillance in computer classrooms and vehicles during exams, the ability to access video recordings to challenge the actions of examiners, and an electronic record service through e-queue.
These innovations were intended to make service in service centers faster, more convenient and more transparent, in particular to solve the problem of physical queues and speculation with coupons. However, last year, many visitors to the service centers reported that it became extremely difficult or impossible to get an exam ticket on their own.
After the materials were made public, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced plans for a “system reboot” of service centers, including unscheduled inspections, streamlining the work of the electronic queue, and forming a new team of service center managers. A month and a half has passed since then, but no additional information has been received from the ministry.
In addition to Rudyk, several administrators and inspectors of the territorial service centers he managed submitted declarations upon dismissal.
