The heads of the Odessa airport reported suspicion of causing losses of 15.6 million hryvnias

On September 5, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced the acting general director of KP “Odesa International Airport” suspected of causing losses to the enterprise of more than 15.6 million hryvnias.

According to information on the website of the city council, the duties of the general director of the enterprise are performed by Olha Makogonyuk.

According to the investigation, the official did not submit an application to the State Aviation Service for certification of the airfield, which since 2003 allowed the company to receive revenue from airlines for the take-off, landing and parking of aircraft.

As the detectives note, instead of defending the interests of the utility company, the suspect facilitated the transfer of the status of airport operator to a private company:

“As a result, in December 2020, KP lost this status, and the specified company became the new operator of the airport and began to earn money by providing relevant services to airlines. As a result of such actions, the territorial community of Odesa suffered losses of over UAH 15.6 million.

Her actions are qualified under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of this article provides imprisonment for up to six years with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for a period of up to three years, as well as a fine of five hundred to one thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens. A preventive measure is currently being chosen for the suspect.
