The International Congress of Nurses was held in Kyiv on the occasion of World Nurses Day. The event was held under the slogan “The Power of Nursing: Leadership in Safety and Trust” and gathered almost 200 participants online and over 2,000 offline. “Nurses and brothers are more than 40% of all medical workers in the country. A year ago, the Ministry of Health approved the Strategic Directions for the Development of Nursing in Ukraine, which provide for professional development and the implementation of international standards in daily practice. This is an important step for the development of the industry and the support of specialists in the conditions of military challenges. Special attention is paid to the issues of work during martial law, psychological stability and professional growth.
Such events are intended to be a platform for discussing key aspects of the development of nursing, patient safety standards in the face of modern challenges, innovative approaches to care, as well as the role of nurses and brothers as leaders in the health care system., — noted Deputy Minister, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin.
The program for this year’s event covered current challenges and trends in the field of nursing, including creating and maintaining a safe hospital environment, infection prevention, control of the spread of infectious diseases and the safety of medical workers in wartime. The participants also had the opportunity to join the master class “CPR cardiopulmonary resuscitation in newborns”.
The final stage of the event was a solemn award ceremony for the laureates of the All-Ukrainian award “The Best Nurse of Ukraine 2025”, during which specialists who demonstrate high professionalism, devotion to work and sensitive attitude to patients were recognized every day.
The event was organized by the Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Children’s Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Trade Union of Health Care Workers, the Lviv Medical Academy named after Andrey Krupinsky, the International Charitable Foundation “Child’s Heart”, the Kyiv Professional Medical College named after P.I. Havrosya and the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy.
The purpose of the congress is to create a professional platform for dialogue, which will contribute to the unification of leading medical specialists from different countries, the exchange of experience in the context of innovative solutions in the field of patient safety, and the development of leadership skills among representatives of the nursing community.
Since its foundation in 2010, the congress has become an important center of cooperation between medical educational institutions, health care institutions and organizations responsible for the training and advanced training of medical workers.
