The Kharkiv court issued a verdict in the case of the beating of a teacher by an employee of the TCC
On October 7, the Saltiv District Court of Kharkiv passed a verdict in the case of the beating of a history teacher by an employee of the TCC in May 2025. The former employee of the TCC, Serhiy Volovyk, was found guilty of hooliganism and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment.
The court also decided to collect 150,000 hryvnias in moral damages from the accused. In his civil lawsuit, the victim Yurii Fedyai demanded 300,000 hryvnias for moral damages and 21,000 hryvnias for legal aid. During the meeting on September 19, the accused stated that he was ready to compensate 30,000 moral damages and 21,000 legal aid costs. Volovik has 30 days to appeal the verdict.
“My main goal was to show and prove that I did not provoke TCC employees, which the court confirmed today. I want to thank everyone for their support: relatives, friends, acquaintances who wrote to me – it is very important. I also want to thank all the Ukrainians who supported me on social networks — your attention and concern made it possible to get the result that the court announced today, said the victim Yuriy Fedyai.
Prosecutor Serhii Yakovenko also expressed satisfaction with the decision:
“We are very satisfied with the fact that the preliminary qualification with which Volovyk was informed of the suspicion, after which the indictment was sent to the court, was confirmed by the court: this is hooliganism in our country, as a gross violation of public order, committed with particular audacity.
Let us remind you that on May 11, a video appeared on social networks where a representative of the TCC in Kharkiv punched a man twice in the stomach. Later, it turned out that the victim was a teacher of history, human rights and “Defense of the Fatherland”, who had a reservation against mobilization.
In the statement of the regional center of recruitment and social support it was noted that, according to preliminary data, the conflict between the military TCC and the civilian “as a result of provocative actions by a citizen”.
