The largest radiation shelter in Western Ukraine will be opened in the Ternopil shopping mall

The “Podolyany” shopping and entertainment center in Ternopil is preparing to open the second phase of the complex, which will include the largest anti-radiation shelter in western Ukraine with an area of 3,000 square meters.

After construction is completed, the total area of the complex on the outskirts of the city will increase by almost a third – from 50 thousand to 71 thousand square meters, although the second phase was built as a separate building. As the director of development of the shopping center Tetyana Chubak clarified in a comment to LIGA.net, the opening of Podolyany Mall is expected in April 2026.

According to her, the shelter has existed since the time of the factory, which was previously located on this territory, and later the first phase of the Podolyany shopping center was built in its place. Over the past year, the shelter has been reconstructed and adapted to the needs of the shopping and entertainment center. About 4,500 people will be able to stay in the shelter at the same time. The shopping center notes that this is the first large shelter in western Ukraine that has anti-radiation status.

The owner of the Podolyany shopping center through LLC Terkuriy-2 is Ternopil entrepreneur Vasyl Chubak, who also owns the trademark of the same name. In addition, he is the founder of a number of businesses operating in the Ternopil region and other regions of Ukraine.
