The Minister of Education and Science receives a salary of almost UAH 90,000 per month during the war

The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi receives a monthly salary of about 90 thousand hryvnias, are reported “Ukrainian News” with reference to the response of the Ministry of Education.

For nine months of 2024, “clean” Lisovyi received about 800 thousand hryvnias, an average of 85 thousand hryvnias per month. During the first three months of the year, the minister earned 83,000 hryvnias, and from April to September – 89,000 hryvnias, with the accrued amount sometimes exceeding 100,000 hryvnias every month.

Previously, Lisovyi emphasized that to increase teachers’ salaries, in accordance with the three minimum salaries stipulated by law, an additional 270 billion hryvnias are needed. The ministry also supported the initiative to ban the use of the Russian language during school breaks.

However, when drawing up the budget for 2025, the minister, according to deputy Nina Yuzhanina, did not defend the need to increase the salaries of educators, agreeing to the proposed conditions. The deputy noted that, despite the low salaries received, especially by young teachers, the Ministry of Education made no effort to defend this issue in the budget process.

We will remind you that the average salary in the field of education is currently about 12 thousand hryvnias, while young teachers often earn even less.
