The Ministry of Defense is developing new ways to protect military phones: Chernogorenko
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has taken an important step in the direction of improving the security of personal mobile devices of servicemen by introducing Mobile Device Management (MDM) technology. About this reported Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Kateryna Chernogorenko on her Facebook page.
According to her, the implementation of MDM is designed to protect military mobile phones from potential cyber threats, which is critically important in today’s hybrid warfare environment. After installing the technology on the device, the system conducts a thorough check for vulnerabilities. Only after successfully passing this check, the military gets access to special applications that help in the performance of front-line tasks.
“Today, 68 applications are available for the military, of which 14 are developed exclusively for the needs of war”– said the deputy minister.
These applications include means for secure communication, navigation, coordination of military operations, as well as tools for analysis and operational decision-making.
Chernogorenko also emphasized that a similar approach is already being used in the US Army, where MDM technology helps ensure a high level of cyber protection for military personnel. Such a step on the part of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine shows the desire to integrate the best global practices in the field of security and technology, which is absolutely necessary for the successful conduct of hostilities and the protection of personnel.
In addition to protection from external threats, the implementation of MDM is also designed to increase the overall efficiency of the use of mobile devices in the army, which will be another step towards the modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
