The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is updating the Food Catalog of the Armed Forces: more spices, fish and fresh fruits
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine approved changes to the Food Catalog of the Armed Forces of Ukraine aimed at improving the quality of food for servicemen.
About this it is said in a message on the department’s website.
Proposals for updating the catalog were jointly developed by the Ministry of Defense and the State Rear Operator (DOT), which has already announced the purchase of products for the Armed Forces for the second half of the year according to the updated list.
“Our military is a key factor in the country’s defense. A balanced diet guarantees their combat readiness and ability to perform tasks in any conditions. Changes in the catalog once again emphasize our goal to provide quality products for the Armed Forces“, said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Dmytro Klimenkov.
The main changes to the Food Catalog of the Armed Forces of Ukraine:
- Various types of spices, cereals, fish and canned goods have been added to the catalog.
- Some of the canned fruits will be replaced by fresh ones.
- Additional quality requirements are prescribed for some categories of products: flour, pasta, canned fish and sausages – only of the highest quality.
- Fish – without a head (to rationalize the price per mass of the product).
- The list of fat percentages of fermented milk products has been expanded.
- Products that were ordered extremely rarely were removed from the catalog, due to which the possibilities of ordering other running items were narrowed. Such products include sago groats, sturgeon and asparagus.
“The changes made to the catalog will contribute to improving the quality of food received by the military. We have added important positions that directly affect the taste properties of dishes. At the same time, some “exotic” items were removed, which narrowed the possibilities of ordering meat, dairy products or other goods due to the limitation of the amount of per diem per soldier“, said Viktoriya Vinogradova, director of procurement management of the DOT.
