The Ministry of Development has updated state building codes in the field of fire protection

The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, by order No. 1567 approved Amendment No. 2 to DBN V.2.5-56:2014 “Fire protection systems”. The document updates the requirements for the design and installation of fire protection systems for buildings.

The updated standards are based on modern international standards and take into account leading world experience in the field of building safety.

The new edition defines the key principles of the design and application of fire protection systems, in particular, clarifies the classification of systems – signaling, notification, fire extinguishing, smoke protection, etc. The objects for which the installation of each type of system is mandatory have also been identified: residential buildings, public buildings, industrial and technical premises. In addition, the requirements for the design and installation of such systems in accordance with national standards have been updated.

The document also includes new provisions developed by specialists of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine together with a specialized scientific institute, which concern the equipment of mobile communication stations with fire extinguishing systems.

“We thank the professional community, all specialized agencies and representatives of Parliament who participated in the development of the document and provided suggestions during its preparation,” — said Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Natalia Kozlovska.

The changes will come into force on March 1, 2026, so designers and developers will have enough time to prepare to meet the new requirements.
