The Ministry of Economy presented the Plan for the Implementation of EU Law in the Agricultural Sector

The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine presented the Plan for the phased implementation of the EU acquis under negotiation chapters 11 “Agriculture and Rural Development”, 12 “Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Policy” and 13 “Fisheries and Watercraft”.

The event was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka, Deputy Ministers of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Taras Vysotsky and Denys Bashlyk, as well as more than 300 representatives of state bodies, businesses and industry associations.

The presentation of the Plan was a continuation of the official screening of Ukrainian legislation within the framework of bilateral meetings between Ukraine and the European Commission. This step is an important stage in the preparation for the integration of Ukraine’s agricultural sector into the EU internal market.

“The implementation of the EU acquis is not only a technical process of adapting legislation, but also a deep transformation of industries. We must ensure that Ukrainian farmers, processors and fishermen experience real benefits from integration – through transparent rules, support for innovation and access to European development programmes,” Taras Vysotskyi said. The plan is aimed at adapting Ukrainian legislation in the agricultural sector to the norms and standards of the European Union, harmonising the rules of market functioning, increasing the competitiveness of Ukrainian agricultural producers and improving the conditions for access to the EU common market. During the discussion, the main stages of implementing the EU acquis were presented and proposals were formulated to determine Ukraine’s negotiating position. “European integration opens up new opportunities for small and medium-sized Ukrainian farms to enter the European market. We strive to provide farmers with everything they need – knowledge, tools and state support, so that they can successfully integrate into the EU market and maximize the potential of their products,” Denys Bashlyk stressed.
