In Kharkiv, a 4-year-old boy fell out of a window, his sister was found dehydrated

A 4-year-old boy died after falling from a fourth-floor window of an apartment building in Kharkiv. His 29-year-old mother was detained and reported to be a suspect. This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv Region.

According to the investigation, the tragedy occurred on May 7. At approximately 1:20 p.m., the boy was left unattended with his 2-year-old sister. The family lived in an apartment on Novobavarsky Avenue.

“Previously, the child climbed onto the windowsill, lost his balance and fell out of the fourth-floor window. The boy died in the ambulance from his injuries,” the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

Law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene entered the locked apartment and found the girl there. She had signs of dehydration, the child was provided with medical assistance.

Investigators opened criminal proceedings under Article 166 and Part 3 of Article 135 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The police also entered data into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the mark “accident”.

The communications department of the Kharkiv region police reported that the suspect is a single mother and raised and supported the children on her own.

In addition, the police are checking information about possible improper performance of official duties by individual officials. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating all the circumstances of the tragedy.

Last July, a 4-year-old boy fell from a 21st-floor window in Kyiv. The child died on the spot from his injuries.
