In the evening of August 25, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine made public statement regarding the unfriendly actions of the Republic of Belarus, which has concentrated a large number of military forces and weapons in the Gomel region, near the northern border with Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, under the guise of military exercises, the armed forces of Belarus are accumulating significant military resources, including units of the Special Operations Forces, heavy weapons and military equipment, including tanks, artillery installations, rocket launchers, air defense systems and engineering equipment, in Gomel region, close to the northern border of Ukraine. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, published on Sunday evening.
The statement emphasizes that conducting exercises in the border zone, especially near the nuclear power plant, which is the Chornobyl NPP, poses serious threats to Ukraine’s national security and global security.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine called on the government of Belarus to avoid “tragedies for its own country under pressure from Moscow”, and also appealed to the Belarusian armed forces with a demand to stop aggressive actions and withdraw their troops from the border of Ukraine to a distance that exceeds the range of their fire systems.
The statement also emphasizes that Ukraine has never carried out and does not plan to carry out any aggressive actions against the Belarusian people.
“We warn that in the event of a violation of the state border of Ukraine by Belarusian forces, our country will apply all necessary measures within the framework of the implementation of the right to self-defense, guaranteed by the UN Charter. In this case, all military concentrations, facilities and logistical routes on the territory of Belarus will become legal targets for of the Armed Forces of Ukraine”, – it says in the summary of the statement.

“According to the intelligence agencies of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, under the guise of exercises, are concentrating a significant number of personnel, in particular Special Operations Forces, weapons and military equipment, including tanks, artillery, anti-aircraft missiles, air defense equipment and engineering equipment, in the Gomel region near the northern borders The presence of mercenaries of the former PMK “Wagner” was also recorded.
Conducting exercises in the border zone and in close proximity to the nuclear power facility, the Chernobyl NPP, poses threats to the national security of Ukraine and world security in general.
We call on the officials of the Republic of Belarus not to make tragic mistakes for their own country under the pressure of Moscow, and its armed forces to stop unfriendly actions and withdraw troops from the state border of Ukraine to a distance that exceeds the range of fire systems available in the Republic of Belarus.
We emphasize that Ukraine has never done and is not going to do any unfriendly actions against the Belarusian people.
We warn that in the event of a violation of the state border of Ukraine by Belarus, our state will take all necessary measures in order to implement the right to self-defense guaranteed by the UN Charter. At the same time, all troop concentrations, military facilities and supply routes on the territory of Belarus will be legal targets for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
