The National Security and Defense Council denied information about the ability of the Russian Federation to produce 25 “Hazelnuts” every month

Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for countering disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine refuted information from Military Watch Magazine about the alleged mass production of medium-range Oreshnik missiles in Russia.

The publication, which specializes in new weapons, said on December 9, citing Ukrainian intelligence, that Russia could produce up to 300 such missiles a year. According to the magazine, the missiles have a range of up to 4,000 kilometers and the ability to carry several warheads with independent guidance.

Kovalenko called Military Watch Magazine a “pad” for legitimizing Russian propaganda. He noted that the sanctions imposed on the Russian Federation due to the war in Ukraine are significantly inhibiting the production of high-tech weapons.

“Yes, they produce Kh-101 or Caliber and accumulate them due to the intensive use of [drones] Shahed. However, the production of more technological missiles, such as the Dagger, goes to units. And Oreshnik is an even more technological cycle , therefore, the information about the launch of this intercontinental ballistic missile is a deliberate fake. The purpose of the launch is to spread fear in Western societies.”, the message says.
