The Verkhovna Rada voted for a postponement for non-consanguineous relatives

The Verkhovna Rada returned the postponement of mobilization for the brothers and sisters of Ukrainians who died at the front or went missing. About this reported People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

According to him, the draft law No. 11391 was supported by 310 votes.

This bill restores the deferral of conscription during mobilization for conscripts whose close relatives, including a natural (consanguineous or non-consanguineous) brother or sister, have died or gone missing while participating in hostilities under martial law.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense expressed support for this draft law. Until April of this year, the previous version of Article 23 of the Law on Mobilization provided that conscripts whose close relatives (husband, wife, son, daughter, father, mother, grandfather, grandmother or biological (consanguineous, non-consanguineous) brother or sister) died or disappeared during hostilities, are not subject to conscription.

However, as a result of subsequent changes, the words “(non-consanguineous) brother/sister” were removed from this article, which caused the need to return them.
