The Netherlands will transfer to Ukraine weapons purchased from the USA, with a total cost of 500 million euros. The package, in particular, will include missiles and components for the American Patriot air defense systems. “The first such step among NATO countries and at a time when Russia is trying to scale up its strikes. It will definitely help protect the lives of our people.” Volodymyr Zelenskyi noted.
According to him, such a decision became one of the practical results of the June NATO summit in The Hague. The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Breckelmans, emphasized that Ukraine desperately needs additional air defense equipment and ammunition.
“The Netherlands is the first NATO country to provide a package of American weapons systems worth 500 million euros (including components and Patriot missiles). So that Ukraine can resist Russian aggression, and also for the rest of Europe.” – explained the minister.
Breckelmans emphasized that after the transfer of 24 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, drones have become a new priority for the Netherlands in helping Ukrainian forces.
