The new school subject will cost the state 1.7 billion hryvnias
About 1.74 billion hryvnias were allocated from the budget for the retraining of teachers and the purchase of equipment for the updated course on the subject “Defense of Ukraine”. The initial stage of the project is currently underway – the Ministry of Education and Science is selecting trainers who will train teachers directly in the future.
“Defense of Ukraine” will be taught in grades 10-11. During the lessons, students should acquire basic first aid skills, learn how to deal with explosive objects, how to act in emergency situations, etc.
100 million hryvnias have been earmarked for improving the qualifications of teachers. The ministry will allocate the rest (1.64 billion hryvnias) for the purchase of materials and equipment for schools. In particular, first-aid kits, simulators for cardiac resuscitation, equipment for learning how to control drones and equipping training shooting ranges, etc. will be purchased for educational institutions.
Trainers who will pass on their experience to teachers will be trained from June 10 to 14 in Kyiv. Those interested can apply until June 4. The list of those who can become a coach includes:
- teachers of the subject “Defense of Ukraine” or related disciplines;
- demobilized servicemen;
- instructors of civil protection centers;
- specialists specializing in work with young people.
“After the professional training, the trained trainers will receive certificates and will be able to transfer their knowledge to the teachers of “Protection of Ukraine” in their communities or regions with the funds of a special subvention from the state budget. The knowledge acquired in this way will be transferred in a cascade method to a greater number of teachers in every corner of Ukraine.” , – informed Ministry of Education and Science.
