The Pentagon confirmed the presence of American observers at the “West-2025” in Belarus
The American military observed the joint exercises of Russia and Belarus “Zapad-2025”, visiting them on the “Day of Honored Guests”. This was stated by Pentagon press secretary Sean Parnell, reports Reuters.
“The US Embassy in Minsk, Belarus has received an invitation for our Defense Attaché to attend the “Zapad-2025″ in Belarus as part of the day of honored guests, and we accepted the invitation taking into account the recent productive bilateral contacts between our countries”, – noted Parnell.
He emphasized that the presence at the exercises on such “days of honored guests” is common practice among armed forces. The presence of American officers less than a week after Poland shot down Russian drones that violated its airspace is seen as another signal of Washington’s desire to mend relations with Minsk.
Analysts in the West have speculated that Trump may seek to distance Belarus from Russia — a move many see as unlikely — or use its close ties to Moscow to push for an agreement to end the war against Ukraine.
We will remind you that on September 15, it became known that the American military visited the training ground where they were training “Zapad-2025”. Minister of Defense of Belarus Viktor Khrenin personally congratulated the US delegation, and the Americans thanked him for the invitation.
