The police exposed an official of the Ministry of Defense who arranged conscripts for critical enterprises for $10,000

Capital law enforcement officers exposed an official of the Ministry of Defense who, for $10,000, arranged employment for conscripts at a critical enterprise in order to obtain reservations.

The man promised conscripts work at an enterprise that has the right to grant deferment from mobilization, and acted as an intermediary in a corruption scheme. Other involved persons are currently being identified. For such actions, he faces up to ten years in prison.

The scheme of illegally obtaining a postponement was documented by the investigators of the Main Directorate of the Kyiv Police together with the employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations in the capital and under the procedural guidance of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Central region.

According to the investigation materials, an employee of the Department of Mobilization of the Ministry of Defense offered men of draft age employment for a reward of $10,000 at an enterprise that has the right to provide reservation from mobilization.

The figure was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine directly at the time of receiving this amount from the “client”.

He was informed of suspicion under part 5 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — in aiding and abetting the receiving of an unlawful benefit by a public official in a large amount based on a prior conspiracy by a group of persons, using the official position and combined with extortion.

According to the court’s decision, the suspect was remanded in custody. In general, he faces up to ten years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or perform certain activities for three years and confiscation of property.
